Step 8 of 9 · Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Find your symptom in the left column and try the fix on the right. If a fix doesn't resolve it, use the request-support section at the bottom.
Common problems & fixes
| Symptom | What to try |
|---|---|
| I can't reach the router's settings page. | Make sure you're on your home Wi-Fi, then try the gateway addresses (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) or the address on the router's sticker. If the login is rejected, find whoever set up the internet. Still stuck? Request support below. |
| There's no DNS field anywhere in my router. | Look under sections named Internet, Network, LAN, DHCP, or Advanced, where DNS fields are often nested. If your router truly has no DNS option, it may be unsupported; request support below rather than forcing a workaround. |
| The router rejected the encrypted (DoH) address. | Your router may not support encrypted DNS. Switch to the plain fallback DNS instead; see the fallback page. Still filtered, just not encrypted. Still failing? Request support below. |
| In-app status is stuck on "verifying." | The verified flag is set by AnchorVow's servers and can lag a few minutes. Wait, then tap Refresh router status again. Confirm you pasted your real address from the app (not the example) and that the partner has confirmed custody. If it never verifies, request support below. |
| Custody isn't confirmed. | Custody is confirmed by the accountability partner in their own AnchorVow account, not by the Vower. Ask the partner to set/keep the router password and confirm custody. See the partner-held custody page. Still blocked? Request support below. |
| The app says the router "needs attention." | This means a check (DNS or custody) stopped passing. Re-open your router settings and confirm the AnchorVow DNS address is still in place, then refresh status. If it keeps returning to needs-attention, request support below. |
Request support
Still stuck after trying the fixes above? Reach out; we'd rather help than leave you guessing.
- If you're signed in: use in-app messaging to reach your accountability partner, or contact them directly; many setup snags are quickest to solve together.
- By email: write to admin@anchorvow.comfrom the email address on your account and describe what you're seeing (which step, the symptom from the table, and your router brand if you know it).
An unsupported router is a clear support situation, not a hidden half-working mode. If yours can't be set up, we'd rather tell you plainly so you can rely on the per-device AnchorVow app instead.
Not a router problem? See what it does and doesn't do; it may be working as intended.
